We recently took our 4 daughters on a 55-mile bike adventure in Northwest Arkansas. Starting in Fayetteville, we rode north to Springdale and then ended in Bentonville. It was an incredible adventure and everything was so bike-friendly! Below are our family’s four favorite bike trails in the area.

Table of Contents

Razorback Greenway

This greenway was incredible! It extends from South Fayetteville to Bella Vista. This was the greenway that we rode from Fayetteville to Springdale and ending in Bentonville. The trail goes 40 miles! Razorback Greenway is paved and accessible. It ran along a creek for most of the way and there were many views of wildlife and waterfalls too! My kids’ favorite parts of the trail were the tunnels. We passed many people walking and biking along the trail. Dogs are welcome here too!

The Lower Ramble

This is Fayetteville’s newest park! The Lower Ramble is right along the Razorback Greenway and is a hidden oasis of nature in the middle of the woods. We biked along the Razorback Greenway from downtown Fayetteville along the paved trail. The trail curved and came upon a bridge going over a creek. There were steps leading down to the creek and there were many children playing. It was a Friday night, so Fayetteville had Weekend Starts! This event had live music and a family craft. We danced to great music and then made a fun craft. The craft was taking whisks and turning into dragonflies with paint and other supplies. Overall, this area was unreal and felt like a dream!

The Crystal Bridges Trail

There are more than five miles of trails through the Crystal Bridges museum grounds in Bentonville. The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art was founded by Alice Walton, and the Walton Family Foundation played a huge role in the development. Crystal Bridges is situated on 134 acres of Ozark nature and the general admission is always free. This stunning museum focuses on American art and stunning architecture. There are 5 miles of trails on the museum grounds with sculptures around the trails. We biked to the south entrance of the Crystal Bridges trail and connected to the Art trail. Then we hopped to the Orchard trail, which was my favorite! There were six vibrant, large-scale flower sculptures by renowned artist Yayoi Kusama. They were just gorgeous. These trails are open from sunrise to sunset and during museum hours.

Coler Mountain Bike Preserve

This gem is one mile west of downtown Bentonville. Coler is a fantastic bike park and trail system for people of all ages and abilities. It is just a 5 minute drive from downtown Bentonville. We rode on the paved pedestrian trail, which is the only route that leads to Airship Coffee (coffee shop and breakfast spot)! It is about one mile from the parking lot. There were people biking, walking, pushing strollers and roller skating. I loved Airship Coffee’s vibe. There were these huge giant swings and plenty of seating on top of the Airship too. I highly recommend the breakfast burrito and berry smoothies!

After breakfast, we explored the trails. There are paved trails in addition to mountain biking trails (over 17 miles of trails total). Our older two girls loved biking the Good Vibrations trail. A large portion of the trail is parallel to the paved trail, so we just rode our electric bikes beside our girls. Coler was absolutely wonderful!

Overall, we had just the best time exploring these cities by bike. Fayetteville, Springdale and Bentonville all had bike-friendly trails and bike-friendly lanes. When there wasn’t a bike lane in the street, there were lanes on a wide sidewalk. There were also kid-friendly pump tracks all around the region too.
